2020年7月，Reddit用戶u/flexxonmobil得到了一份Paul Baskerville於1982到1984年間在Musik für Junge Leute播放的所有歌曲的歌單。雖然這首歌不在歌單上，這卻驅使Lydia為了獲取更多歌單而去跟NDR的檔案室進行接觸。這段時間在Musik für Junge Leute上播放的所有歌曲的歌單也被發現，但Like The Wind仍未被發現。2021年2月，Darius在NDR聽的其他節目（如Der Club, Nachtclub和No Wave）等在1984年播放的歌單進行搜索。
10kHz的線條
2020年12月，通過頻譜圖分析證明，Like The Wind是在NDR播放的，因為這份錄音和其它錄音都有一條10kHz的頻譜線，這證明這條頻譜線並不是在錄音時由設備所留下的。還有，2003年的一篇論壇帖子也證明NDR採用的是10kHz的調製方案。這之所以重要，是因為Darius當時錄製的其他電台並沒有這樣10kHz的頻譜線。
2024年7月18日，搜索團隊發現NDR曾舉辦過一場名為Hörfest的音樂節，該音樂節旨在推廣新樂隊。Hörfest音樂節曾在1984年9月播出過，而Darius可能在這段時間錄下了《Like The Wind》。此外，1984年11月28日Hörfest音樂節曾在德國下薩克森州播出，而Darius和Lydia當時正住在那裏，並且之前有人根據Darius磁帶上的其他曲目，猜測《Like The Wind》就在這一天播放。
發現
2024年11月4日，Reddit用戶marjin1412稱其確認這首歌是德國新浪潮樂隊FEX的歌曲《Subways Of Your Mind》，經過如下：[1]
About two weeks ago l came across an old newspaper article in the Nordwest Zeituna archive, while researching Höfrest bands. The article was about a band called FEX from Kiel, who won a talent contest in Bremen in Sep 1984 and their music was described as Rock with Wave and Pop influences. lt also mentioned their members and one of them l recognised from a Hörfest 83 band called Phret, l managed to get in touch with him and asked him if he still had some old material from those bands. He then sent me some of the songs he made with FEX and Phret... and lo and behold, one of them was titled Subways Of Your Mind. it's a slightly different version from the one we know: https://vocaroo.com/19NEyegYi7Zj
After l emailed him back that the song is actually quite a famous "lost song", he asked me not to go public with it until he spoke with his old band members. in the mean time though the song did get registered at GEMA and people found out about it. But l'm happy to say that the band members agreed for me to go public with it. So here it is.
I'm sure there will be a lot of questions and l hope the band can answer these themselves in the future. l'm just glad and relieved the search is over :)

This is Michael from Silk Vision: In the 1980's I was a member of the Band FEX in northern Germany. A few days ago l learned that a song we recorded with the Band around 1983 is the"most mysterious song on the internet". This absolutely caught me by surprise because l was not aware of the phenomena. l immediately contacted the original Band members and we couldn't believe something like this happening. Now we are busy resolving the mystery and we decided to re-unite to re-record the song. We will keep you posted

2025年11月4日，即《Subways Of Your Mind》被識別一周年之際，FEX所屬的唱片公司The Outer Edge宣布FEX樂隊結他手Ture Rückwardt找到了一張錄有NDR電台版《Subways Of Your Mind》的磁帶。與此前在鍵盤手Michael Hädrich家中找到的同版歌曲相比，這張磁帶上的版本在結尾淡出處多了7秒的內容[11]。目前多7秒的版本可在bandcamp的《Subways Of Your Mind》頁面直接收聽[12]。
