2020年7月，Reddit用户u/flexxonmobil得到了一份Paul Baskerville于1982到1984年间在Musik für Junge Leute播放的所有歌曲的歌单。虽然这首歌不在歌单上，这却驱使Lydia为了获取更多歌单而去跟NDR的档案室进行接触。这段时间在Musik für Junge Leute上播放的所有歌曲的歌单也被发现，但Like The Wind仍未被发现。2021年2月，Darius在NDR听的其他节目（如Der Club, Nachtclub和No Wave）等在1984年播放的歌单进行搜索。
10kHz的线条
2020年12月，通过频谱图分析证明，Like The Wind是在NDR播放的，因为这份录音和其它录音都有一条10kHz的频谱线，这证明这条频谱线并不是在录音时由设备所留下的。还有，2003年的一篇论坛帖子也证明NDR采用的是10kHz的调制方案。这之所以重要，是因为Darius当时录制的其他电台并没有这样10kHz的频谱线。
2024年7月18日，搜索团队发现NDR曾举办过一场名为Hörfest的音乐节，该音乐节旨在推广新乐队。Hörfest音乐节曾在1984年9月播出过，而Darius可能在这段时间录下了《Like The Wind》。此外，1984年11月28日Hörfest音乐节曾在德国下萨克森州播出，而Darius和Lydia当时正住在那里，并且之前有人根据Darius磁带上的其他曲目，猜测《Like The Wind》就在这一天播放。
发现
2024年11月4日，Reddit用户marjin1412称其确认这首歌是德国新浪潮乐队FEX的歌曲《Subways Of Your Mind》，经过如下：[1]
About two weeks ago l came across an old newspaper article in the Nordwest Zeituna archive, while researching Höfrest bands. The article was about a band called FEX from Kiel, who won a talent contest in Bremen in Sep 1984 and their music was described as Rock with Wave and Pop influences. lt also mentioned their members and one of them l recognised from a Hörfest 83 band called Phret, l managed to get in touch with him and asked him if he still had some old material from those bands. He then sent me some of the songs he made with FEX and Phret... and lo and behold, one of them was titled Subways Of Your Mind. it's a slightly different version from the one we know: https://vocaroo.com/19NEyegYi7Zj
After l emailed him back that the song is actually quite a famous "lost song", he asked me not to go public with it until he spoke with his old band members. in the mean time though the song did get registered at GEMA and people found out about it. But l'm happy to say that the band members agreed for me to go public with it. So here it is.
I'm sure there will be a lot of questions and l hope the band can answer these themselves in the future. l'm just glad and relieved the search is over :)

Now we are busy resolving the mystery and we decided to re-unite to re-record the song. We will keep you posted

2025年11月4日，即《Subways Of Your Mind》被识别一周年之际，FEX所属的唱片公司The Outer Edge宣布FEX乐队吉他手Ture Rückwardt找到了一张录有NDR电台版《Subways Of Your Mind》的磁带。与此前在键盘手Michael Hädrich家中找到的同版歌曲相比，这张磁带上的版本在结尾淡出处多了7秒的内容[11]。目前多7秒的版本可在bandcamp的《Subways Of Your Mind》页面直接收听[12]。
